Of course with video games being a popculture phenomenon, it was only a matter of time before kids who grew up with them to dream of one day making their own game to make others happy. With this dream, many people would fulfill that dream by making an indie game.
When talking about indie games, you can't go long withought someone mentioning two of the most popular indie games to ever exist. Minecraft and Terraria are both survival games with a simplistic design and concept, gather materials, build, and survive. Although not seeming like mutch, these games support creativity and imagination like no other game, allowing players to build whatever they want and to do whatever they please, causing experimentation among players.

If you know anything about indie games, odds are you have already heard of undertale. Undertale is an RPG (role playing game) created by american indie developer Toby Fox. The player controls a child that has fallen into a mountain that is inhabated by monsters who were sealed away from mankind long ago. However, this game is something special, this game remembers what you do and what kind of run you are playing. If you are playing a true passifist the game will be fun and exciting with loveable characters and unique comedy, but if you play like any other RPG the game will start to feel empty. In any other game, defeating a monster will level you up and make you stronger, however Untertale reacts to any evil actions and changes the game completely.

Listed as an adventure-survival game, Subnautica takes place in the distant future where the player character crash lands on an alien planet covered with water. The player must learn how to survive with the dangers of any ocean, and several leviathan class sea creatures. While most games have "filler" levels to break up the difficult boss levles, Cuphead is mostly a game with only boss levles to challenge players.
The first of many indie horror games, Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) is a horror game based on the anamatronic pizzeria style of entertainment. The player controls a nightguard at the pizzeria who must keep the animatronics away from the office using only the cameras to keep track of each character and the doors on his office to keep them away. While the gameplay offers a unique twist from most horror games, forcing the player to stay in one area and fend off enemies, FNAF is most known for its lore, with many people making a living based off theorizing about the game. FNAF was created by Scott Cawthon at the best possible time, Scott Cawthon has made many games before FNAF that were unintentionally creepy and simplistic such as "Chipper & Sons Lumber Co." due to the character's resemblance to "creepy animatronics" serving as inspiraton for Scott Cawthon to create the most sucesful indie horror franchises of all time.
